Studio in Madrid

Interior design of a small but quaint studio in the heart of the Spanish capital

During my time in Madrid, I designed a small studio apartment that I was living in. Measuring at just 22 square metres and the floor space being distributed across 3 areas, I was presented with a number of challenges, exacerbated by a constrained budget.

From a blank canvas upon moving in I chose my furniture carefully, making sure to avoid oversized pieces that would feel cumbersome. The TV was fixed to the wall to maximise the space that was on offer, utilising the space behind to hide wireless devices and messy cables, helping to achieve a clean and minimalistic look. I also designed a custom lamp that made use of the pronounced height providing a nice, indirect light point without taking any precious floor space.

The hall offered a nicely lit open space that I decided to use as an office, installing a STRING system library and desk.
